Kindergarten!

Ella's first day of kindergarten was today! She is so excited to start the school year and be back with her beloved teachers and friends. Since Ella goes to a montessori school this is her third year in the same classroom, but now she's a "big kid" one of the 10 kindergarteners. She gets to go to school 5 days a week, 2 half days and 3 full days. And that means she gets to have lunch @ school 3 days a week (this is big folks!) You'll see she's posed with her new lunchbox. I have to give props to my friend June for telling me about To-Go-Ware this is a tiffin set and so very "Bellingham" (i.e. environmentally friendly/no plastic) and Ella thinks she looks so "American Girl" (in the book series about Addy lunch is brought to school in a tin)


Ella had a great first day and then we met up with 2 of her friends for lunch, then to piano lessons, then to ice cream at Mallards where Ella used the free coupon she had earned for being a super star reader! I never could have guessed that the summer reading program at the library would be such an inspiration for Ella. After getting her starter kit and assignment to read 15 books she came right home and began reading. At one point when looking for a new book she picked one up and I said "Ella, that's a good one" to which she responded "yes, but I know I can read it and I'm trying to challenge myself" I had to laugh to myself because she was so Greg's child in that moment, he's very studious. I would have picked easy books just to get the list done (yes, shameful but true)
Ella also took on Bini's summer reading assignments which included teaching him opposites and new nursery rhymes. Bini also loves books and loves cuddling up to read, I love this snuggle time with my busy little boy!
